Guitar Hero Playlists on iTunes
Posted by Greg at 11:40PM on Dec 9, 2009
I've created iTunes playlists ("iMixes") for each of the main releases in the Guitar Hero series. So now you can either scroll down and listen to the playlists below or listen to them right on iTunes. Your call!
If you are using Firefox you may need to disable pop-ups temporarily by going to Tools, then Options, then Content, unselecting the box next to "Block pop-up windows", and clicking the "OK" button.

Guitar Hero 5 Song List
Posted by Greg at 7:12PM on Dec 5, 2009
The next game to continue the Guitar Hero phenomemon is set to be released on September 1, 2009. This game features 83 artists and more songs than any previous Guitar Hero game. Recent popular additions to the franchise such as create your own music, downloadable songs, and online multi-player return.
But for the first time, your friends can jump in and out of the game at any time. You can now use any combination of instruments (like four guitars). Guitar Hero 5 also adds a 4-player multi-player rockfest competition. It also introduces "reviving" band mates, star power for each individual band member, and far better vocals gameplay. And mostly importantly in my humble opinion, it has the best song selection yet.
This game is virtually guaranteed to sell out. I already pre-ordered it on Amazon.com (gotta love free shipping) and I highly recommend you do too. If you end up running from retailer to retailer desperate to find a copy don't say I didn't warn you! Considering the shipping is free I literally cannot think of any reason not to pre-order it.
Guitar Hero World Tour Song List
Posted by Greg at 1:08AM on Nov 23, 2009
World Tour is probably the most innovative game in the series since the original. This was the first time you could start your own band with your friends in a Guitar Hero game. You can still play one-player the same as always, but World Tour introduced the bass, drums, and microphone to allow your friends to get in on the action. Another cool addition is the "Music Studio" mode that allows you to create your own songs that can be shared online through the "GHTunes" service.
The game also features an awesome soundtrack. Don't believe me? Listen for yourself. All in all, this is a fantastic game. If you're a fan of Guitar Hero but for some reason do not own World Tour, buy it now!
Guitar Hero 3 Legends of Rock Song List

Guitar Hero 3 is among the most successful video games of all-time. It was the first video game to reach one billion dollars in sales and the best-selling video game of 2007. It is also the number one best-selling 3rd party game for the Wii. While it didn't innovate in any major ways, it had easily the best soundtrack of any Guitar Hero game to date
Guitar Hero 3 introduced boss guitar battles and a wireless guitar for the first time. Guitar Hero 3 also has both offline and online mutli-player. In mutli-player mode, players can earn "Battle Power" (which is basically Star Power) in order to unleash attacks on the other player.
Guitar Hero On Tour Song List

Finally, the Guitar Hero series was introduced to a handheld in the form of Guitar Hero: On Tour. The playlist is a little shorter than other Guitar hero games, but the game was also much less expensive than your typical Guitar Hero game. My dissapointment at the short song list was made up for partially by the fact that you could literally scream in order to activate your Star Power thanks to the DS's built-in microphone.
Obviously the game's developers had to come up with a new way to play the game. They decided against a tiny pocket-sized guitar, instead including a peripheral called the "Guitar Grip" with each of the typical colored buttons that you could attach to the side of your DS. The DS is held like a book similar to Brain Age. The stylus is used to strum like a guitar pick on the right screen while the left screen displays the notes.
Guitar Hero 2 Song List

Guitar Hero 2 includes several improvements over the original. "Hammer-on" and "pull-off" techniques were incredibly improved. Multi-player was given a face-lift with the addition of co-op, making multi-player among players of two different skill levels much more entertaining. But the most important addition was the practice mode that allowed players to skip to any section of a song and practice it at any speed. Few players would have been able to master Free Bird on Expert without the help of this invaluable addition.
Guitar Hero 2 was greeted by an even more enthusiastic response from critics and gamers than the original. It earned a 93% rating at gamerankings.com and 92/100 at Metacritic. Over 3 million copies of the game have been sold to date.
Guitar Hero Song List

This is where it all began. Using a DDR-like onscreen representation of notes flying by, this game was a huge suprise hit. In hindsight, a game that lets players fill the shoes of rock stars seems like a stroke of genius. But at the time most industry experts didn't think people would be willing to pony up the extra money to buy the guitar peripheral.
Well, they were spectacularly wrong and Guitar Hero started what has become one of the largest video game franchises in the world. This game received an average rating of 92% at gamerankings.com and 91/100 at Metacritic. It won countless awards from publications such as IGN, GameSpot, the Game Developers Choice Awards, and the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. The series still retains the same core gameplay and if you haven't played it, the original Guitar Hero is still a very worth purchase and can be found at a much lower price than when it was first released.
